A Co-Op's Board of Directors
The Board of Directors are elected from the membership at the annual meeting each year. Hunter Estates has 9 Directors.
Any member has the right to sit in on a board meeting or come to a meeting to voice a concern.
You must first let the Board Secretary know that you want to attend and give her/him an idea of why you want to attend.
In The News
The Hunter Estates Housing Co-Operative began in late January of 1982. The city of Calgary planning department set up a meeting on January 26 1982, for all those persons who had contacted the department over the previous year, concerning co-opertaive housing.
January 28th 1982 a meeting was held to discuss the 138 unit project and co-opertaive housing in more detail. It was at this meeting, it was decided to sponsor the incorporation of a housing co-operative. The name "HUNTER ESTATES HOUSING CO-OPERTAIVE LTD." was chosen and the members asked the planning department to act as a resource group.

Active member participation is essential to the success of a housing co-op. One of the ways this involvement is achieved, is through strong committees. Which serve to advise the Board of Directors and the members on the co-op policies.
Participation on a committee is a good way of learning the ins and outs of co-op living. The committees are the back bone of a co-op
